I made serveral changes to this version. The WIP was just to test how it would look with some basic materials and a couple of lights. This one has custom metal materials that I made from scratch, a light blade with realistic lighting effects, realistic reflections, and improved rubber grip material. Also this lightsaber was modeled after Lukes in ROTJ. I made a slight adjustment to the handle, the large box/switch is gone, because I thought it made it look more streamlined. I'm extremely happy with the way this turned out for my first real model. Everything started out as a cylinder but was extruded, beveled, cut, and smoothed until I got this. I used one image as a reference and guide.

Haha! I saw you went to my page, and like me you have also made a Lightsaber! lol So I like your materials like x43 better than mine... I suck with materials. Nice Job.

Thank you! Your lightsaber looks pretty awesome. :D I made the chrome mat a while back so I just recycled it from a previous project. There is a tutorial on the web if you want to check it out. I think its at 3d-Kingdom.org.

awesome texturing, the blade has no shadow? :p great job

Nope, no shadow for the blade. The reason for this is that the blade itself gives off a lot of light. Think of it like a flashlight or laserbeam.
