Creation by Dreimond Creation by Dreimond
I just got Photoshop CS and I have been playing around for hours on end so I decided to try something new. This space scene was made entirely in photoshop. I didn't know much about creating planets and suns so I looked for a few tutorials, pieced them together, tweaked them a little and compiled them in this work. The entire scene probably took about 20 hours but what a 20 hours it was! :D I hope everyone enjoys the scene.

Oh my God, that is so beautiful! :aww: All of it is lovely & I like that there are snowy mountains in the background. That doesn't make sense, but it's still lovely to look at. :) The close up detail on the sun is great & Saturn is a nice planet to look at with it's ring. This looks really good & wow, 20 hours!? That's a lot, but the outcome went well!

I can't wait to see yours either. They sound so pretty. Eyes tell so much about someone. I want to feel your head resting on my shoulder. It'll bring me so much joy to have that moment with you.

:D Thank you! I had a lot of fun watching how this piece was built up from a simple circle to a 3D looking planet.

OOO PRETTY O.O

Sun is so shiny, I like that, and it's a good color chosen for the comet because it's a COOL color, so it doesn't try to attract all the attention away from the sun (which I think is the main aspect of the picture, or it's conjuncture with the planet element anyways).
The only beef I have is the asteroid/planet on the bottom.

In my personal opinion it looks like a lifeless planet with rock and snow hanging around on it. Thought it might be an asteroid O.o but it's a little too girthy and "perfect" in shape to be an asteroid, which will have a very asymmetrical look to itt.

Either way, there SHOULD be a VERY intensive glow cast upon the asteroid from where that sun is shining on it, because right now, it looks without depth and flat. Add the glow to make the asteroid have a shape and that will ALSO help drag the viewer's attention by leading it INTO the sun, which "professional" artists claim is a good thing to do. ^^ I really like that sun, nice. I enjoy. 10 out of 10.

That's a great review! I fixed the image a little. I didn't want to brighten it up too much because it started to take your focus away too much but this amount seems just right. The snow and mountain stand out more and are more defined. It also has a really nice atmospheric glow to it now. All in all I think it improved the image a lot.

Done only in photoshop? that's amazing! It just looks so professional! I just got photoshop CS too, but I've never really used photoshop before. I must learn if its possible to produce amazing work like this!

Thank you very much!! Yes, Photoshop CS only. The planets where created using brushes and a texture and the sun was created a similar way. The blue nebula was made with difference clouds then cropped and positioned. For the rest I just winged it. :D If you just started PS and want some tutorial pages just tell me and I'll give you all the ones I have.

that is SOO awesome! I'm pretty much only used photoshop to touch up pictures etc. never to create anything from scratch

mind if you note me those tutorial pages? I'd love to learn =)

Thank you very much and thank you for the fave! :D I tried doing this in 3DS Max but I think you need the softness that PS gives it for the piece to look nice.

Thank you!! I used to watch someone that worked with this type of art but unfortunately he got banned and never started back up. Stupid reason too. Someone said that he ripped him off but the images where completly different aside from the one nebula, which looked close but wasn't exact.

Thanks! I'm trying to combine every program I have learned with each project. This was originally supposed to be rendered in 3DS Max and then I would have added some elements in CS but I just did it all in there. :D
